Three members of the Guilford High School baseball team were selected for the 2022 All-SCC Baseball Team this spring. Senior Co-Captain and centerfield Mike Torre, Junior shortstop Carter Williams, and Sophomore pitcher Bryce Meder were voted on by league coaches as three of the top players around the SCC.
At the conclusion of the regular season, Mike Torre batted .400 with an OPS of 1.061, with 28 hits, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 18 RBI and 16 runs scored. In addition, he solidified himself as one of the top defensive center fielders in the SCC.
Carter Williams led the Grizzlies offensively in many categories this spring. The Junior posted a .424 batting average, 1.171 OPS, 28 hits, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 19 RBI and 17 runs scored.
Bryce Meder established himself as the ace of the GHS pitching staff. The right hander put together a 3-2 record in 8 starts on the mound. He tallied 36.1 innings pitched and an earned run average of 2.50. Meder recorded 41 strikeouts against just 10 walks. He limited batters to .226 batting average against.
The Grizzlies are set to take on the Masuk Panthers in the opening round of the CIAC Class L Baseball Tournament. The game will be played on Tuesday, May 31st at 3:30 pm at GHS.
