Guilford Falls to Fairfield Prep in SCC Playoffs

The Fairfield Prep Jesuits earned a 6-1 victory over Guilford on Monday, ending the Grizzlies' 5-game win streak and eliminating them from the SCC Playoffs in the opening round. Prep's Ryan Oshinskie tossed a complete game, scattering 4 Guilford hits and allowing 1 run, while striking out 13 batters for the win.

Guilford's only run came in the top of the 6th inning when Senior, Tyler Zajkowski singled to right to lead off the inning, moved to 2nd on Sophomore, Mike Buccaro's walk, and scored on Senior, Co-Captain, Aiden McBrierty's single to center that made it 3-1, Jesuits. (video)

Prep had taken an early 1-0 lead in the 1st on a RBI double, then scored twice more in the 4th on a RBI double and a RBI single, that made it 3-0, Jesuits. They would add 3 more runs in the bottom of the 6th on a 2-RBI triple and a sacrifice fly.

The Grizzlies will now prepare for their CIAC Class L State Tournament, opening round game, that will be played on Tue., May 31st. The opponent, location and time of the game will be announced later this week, and the schedule will be updated here on the site as soon as the tournament bracket is released.
