Meder Leads Guilford Over Masuk in CIAC Opening Round

Guilford Sophomore, Bryce Meder, pitched 7 innings, recorded 9 strikeouts and surrendered just a single run, to earn a complete-game, 4-1 win over the Masuk Panthers on Tue., in the opening round of the 2022 CIAC State Tournament. Not only did Meder impact the game on the mound, but his 2-out, 2-RBI triple in the bottom of the 6th broke a 1-1 tie, and drove in the game winning runs that sent Guilford into round 2 of the tournament. Besides Meder, Senior Co-Captain, Mike Torre went 3 for 3 in the game with 2 stolen bases & a run scored, and Senior Co-Captain, Aiden McBrierty had an RBI and a run scored. Sam Ametrano, Michael Buccaro and Jack Farrah also had hits in the game.

The win earns the Grizzlies a trip to Windsor on Wednesday, 6/1, - to face the Class L #1 seed Windsor Warriors, who defeated Kaynor Tech, 17-0 on Tue. The game will be played at Windsor High School at 3:45 pm. on Wed.
